X4 Timber More Energy Efficient than Block Builds
For every second, for every degree of temperature difference [between inside and outside], softwood timber is four times more energy efficient than a block-built home.
The block and brick bits provide no value whatsoever thermally. If there is an air cavity that has some weak thermal value, the insulation is what you are relying on almost entirely. (Learn more here)
Speed
The quick and efficient on-site assembly means you can complete your project faster.
The off-site fabrication of precision-cut timber components allows for concurrent manufacturing while site work is underway, reducing construction time.
The lightweight nature of timber, coupled with reduced on-site labor requirements, further enhances the expediency of construction. Overall, timber frame construction provides a faster and more streamlined approach to building, making it an attractive option for those seeking timely completion of construction projects.
Flexible Building Design
Timber Frame builds are very versatile when it comes to design. Homes can be designed to meet clients’ and architects’ requirements. Having been successfully involved in the design of many timber frame houses and commercial properties for over 10 years, we ensure our clients and those designing a home that there are very few limitations in the design process and can work up the best design for your requirements.
Energy Efficient
Timber frame houses provide excellent thermal and sound insulation with the benefits of home owners saving up to £1000 on annual heating costs, and 70% on overall energy costs according to UKTF. This Remarkable energy efficiency also means that houses stay warmer for longer once they have been heated.
Having a timber frame constructed in a factory environment will provide a higher quality of build through the building process. Energy-efficient homes must have a very high level of accuracy to maintain an airtight structure.
Airtightness
While efficient thermal insulation is undoubtedly the key element in preventing heat loss within a home, problem areas exist at the joints where surfaces such as walls, roofs, windows, and doors meet. In order to achieve the A3 BER ratings for our timber frame houses, our QTF manufacturer and building team have to ensure that all such joints are airtight to prevent all draughts that may enter the structure. Air tightness is accomplished by ensuring that all joints are adequately sealed to prevent air and vapor from permeating between the insulating layers, which as well as energy loss can lead to problems such as condensation and damp mold.
Building Cost
Whether you’re looking to build a timber house or property, here at QTF Services we ensure a competitive price to save you money on the services we supply. Here are just some of the main benefits relating to the cost of building your home:
- Saving in reduced construction costs – up to 30% faster than the conventional method
- Saving in operation costs and less wastage of materials Cost-effective transport of materials
- All costs are fixed which allows for certainty of budget and greater control
Saving on running costs
In 2023 the average home heating, fuel, and electricity bills cost was between £1,138 per annum, but a Timber frame house running costs calculate to be only £560.00 a year on average. It is also alarming to think that many blockhouses which are now being built are years out of date by the time they are finished.

At QTF Services we are committed to promoting environmentally friendly, sustainable houses. All of the timber used in the construction of your house is sourced from sustainable forests. See full details here on building a sustainable home
